DR. MIKE NUSSBAUM, President 2019-2022. Mike is an anesthesiologist and has been a volunteer for many years. He has been on the Board of Directors since August of 2013 and served as President from July of 2019-2023. Mike is a member of the Old Mission Rotary Club in San Diego.

ERNESTO “DON NETO” FLORES, President 2023-24 Thousand Smiles Foundation, Past-President, Ensenada Centenaria Rotary 2021-2022. Ernesto has been involved with our project for several years. He was elected to the Board in July 2021. He is a judge in Ensenada, Baja.

KIM MUSLUSKY, Secretary, Past President 2005-2007, 2009-2011. Kim is a long-time volunteer with Thousand Smiles. She has been on the Board of Directors since February 2001. Kim is the International Chair of Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary and Past President of San Diego North Rotary. Kim oversees clinic operations in all areas.

STAN VOGELSANG, Treasurer, Past President 2017-2019. Stan has been a volunteer and member of the Board of Directors since 2015. He is a long time member and Past President of the Old Mission Rotary Club in San Diego. Stan is very active in fundraising for Thousand Smiles and works in the supply warehouse, and does sterilization during clinics.

ROBERT L.”BOB” CHALFA, Auxiliary Treasurer, Past President 1987-1989. Bob has been on the Board since Thousand Smiles was founded in 1985. Bob is a member and Past President of the Old Mission Rotary Club in San Diego. He is a former member and Past President of the National City Rotary Club. Bob does most of the purchasing for the clinic and works in the supply warehouse during the clinics.

HECTOR “EL GENERAL” BENET, Director, President (2022-23) Ensenada Centenaria Rotary Club. “El General” has been helping us with patient registration for many years, and with patient and volunteer logistics and safety since the Covid Pandemic started. He was elected to the Board in July 2021.

ROBERT L. “BOBBY” CHALFA, JR., Director. Bobby has been a volunteer with Thousand Smiles since 1989. He is a graduate of Cal Poly, in Construction Management, and has used his talents over the years to supervise construction and maintenance of our facilities. Bobby is a past member of the National City Rotary and Old Mission Rotary. He is presently an Honorary Member of Old Mission Rotary,

CYNTHIA DRAKE, Director. Cynthia is a Registered Nurse. She is a member of The Old Mission Rotary Club. Cynthia has been involved with Thousand Smiles for many years. She was first elected to the Board in January 2002 and served as Secretary shortly thereafter. In late 2004 she moved to Texas. She continued to volunteer for several years, traveling from Texas to San Diego to each clinic. She returned to San Diego in 2018 and immediately started volunteering again at the clinics. She rejoined as a Board Member in September 2020.

Dr RANDY MILES, Director. Randy has been a volunteer dentist at Thousand Smiles for years. He is a long-time member of the El Centro Rotary Club. Randy has been attending our Board Meetings for the last couple of years and was elected to the Board in July 2021

DALE PROCTOR, Director. Dale is a Software Engineer and works in all areas related to data processing in the clinic. Dale is a Charter Member of the Route 78 Rotary Club in Escondido. He has been a member of our Board since October 2017.

SHERRIE SUANICO, Director. Sherrie is the Senior Vice President of Corinthian Title and Escrow in San Diego. She is a long-time volunteer at Thousand Smiles and works in Patient Registration and Routing at the clinics. She is a member of Old Mission Rotary, San Diego, and has been a member of our Board since August 2018

Dr. MARC LEBOVITZ, Director. Marc is an ENT doctor and has volunteered for over 20 years. He does triage and is responsible for ear tube placement for patients when needed. He was elected to the Board in 2021.

DR. ALBERTO ROMERO, Director Emeritus. Alberto is a dentist. His practice is in Tecate, Baja California. He has been volunteering with Thousand Smiles for years. Alberto is bilingual, and, in addition, has a talent for working with small children. Alberto was an Active Board Member from May 2014 till September 2022. Alberto is an Honorary Member of Old Mission Rotary Club in San Diego.

SHAB AL AWAR, Director. Shab is a past District Governor of District 5330. He and his wife Brisa, a dentist, have been active volunteers at our clinics for many years.

LYDIA STEWART, Director Emeritus. Lydia served as Nursing Coordinator at the clinics and was an Active Board Member from 2012 to May of 2018. We still look to Lydia for support and welcome her at our clinics and Board Meetings when she is able to attend. Lydia is a member of the Old Mission Rotary Club.

RON VERNETTI, Director Emeritus. Ron has been volunteering for several years and was a member of the Board of Directors from June 2015 till April 2019. Ron is still an active supporter of Thousand Smiles and is a welcome participant in our Board Meetings when he is able to attend. Ron is a member of the Coronado Rotary Club.
